Is Hawaii not a spot everyone would like to visit at least once in life? Well, that´s at least what I was thinking when I decided to skip cold German winter and move to Hawaii for 3 months. I was working there for a Christian organization called YWAM and used my free afternoons as well as the weekend to travel on the island where we were located, Big Island. Together with the most amazing people from all around the world I was traveling to active volcanos, we were doing hiking and camping trips to beautiful valleys and so much more. As you can imagine, the atmosphere was super relaxed and and the weather was beautiful, always. Same as during my Iceland Roadtrip, I enjoyed the pure freedom, the possibility to get to know so many people everyday and talk with them about the purpose of life.
Even though I ended up in one of the most beautiful spots on earth, it was finally the people I met there that made the difference and this time to something that I will never forget! Following you find lots of impressions of one of the best times in my life so far. 🙂
Here on the way to the top of Mauna Kea, the highest mountain in the world. No, I know, Mount Everest is bigger – but not when you’re measuring from the bottom of the mountain;). Above the clouds, the light was incredibly beautiful and I was on the mountain twice during my Hawaii vacation. Exciting was also the stark variety on the Big Island. While it was always 30 degrees below the sea at Kona, we froze on the mountain like in the coldest winter in Germany. Often the mountain Mauna Kea is also covered with snow. Incidentally, from there you can also see the most stars in the world, over 90%. That is also the reason why some big observatories are positioned at the summit.
